Environmental Awareness Rally

To commemorate 71st Independence Day of the Nation ‘Environmental Awareness Rally’ was jointly organized by various functional units of the College like 3/19 KAR. BN NCC, Rovers and Rangers, Suraksha Consumer Forum, Eco Club, Students’ Council  and NCC Wing of St Philomena High School on August 15, 2017.

The Sub Inspector of Puttur Town Police Station Mrs. Omana N K kicked off the rally. The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha, in his address said, ‘Environmental problems are becoming more and more serious all over the world. It is the duty of every citizen to protect, preserve and improve the natural environment.’ The Head Master of St Philomena High School Mr. Oswald Rodrigues graced the occasion.

This Rally began from the College campus and proceeded towards Darbe Circle through Kaverikatte. Finally, it was concluded in front of the main entrance gate of the college.

During the Rally, students raised the slogans related to the protection of environment, presented the placards, and thereby, tried to create awareness among the public. More than 600 students took part in this rally.

Rally was coordinated by Lt Johnson David Sequeira, NCC Officer, Mr. Thejaswi Bhat and Mr. Abhishek S, Convenors of Suraksha Consumer Forum, Mrs. Meenakshi K and Mr. Khalander Shareef, Convenors of Rovers and Rangers, Mr. Nagaraju M, Mrs. Rakshitha R B and Ms. Shashiprabha B, Convenors of Eco Club, Mrs. Prashanthi, NSS Programme Coordinator, Dr Vijay Kumar M and Mrs. Bharathi S Rai, Directors of Students’ Council, F/o Naresh Lobo, NCC Officer, Army Wing, S/o Clament Pinto, NCC Officer, Naval Wing and F/o Roshan Sequeira, NCC Officer, Air Force Wing of St Philomena High School and other faculty members coordinated the programme.
