Under this programme, students of first year visited ‘Sediyapu Agricultural Farm’ of Puttur Taluk. The farm owner Mr. Janardhana Bhat explained about various food and nonfood crops, herbal plants, traditional and modern water tanks, Indian and foreign fruit trees, manuring system, irrigation methods, labour management, marketing of produce, etc.
In the second session, students visited Service Centre of Agricultural Machineries, Uppinangady which has been jointly administered by Department of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka and Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (R), Puttur. The manager of this Service Centre Mr. Yathish K gave a demonstration of various types of farm machineries used in cultivation, seeding, planting, transplantation, pest control, harvesting, etc.
The programme was organized by the Department to give an opportunity to the students to acquire first hand information about the agricultural activities. The faculty members of the Department Prof. Dinakara Rao, Prof. Pradeep K S and Prof. Mahitha kumari M were present in this programme.
