The Department of Hindi of St Philomena College Puttur observed ‘Hindi Day’ on September 16, 2017 in college auditorium.
The former HoD of Hindi Prof. Vishnu Bhat was the chief guest. After releasing the ‘Hindi Sabha’, he said “Hindi is the native language spoken by majority of the people across globe. On 14th September 1949 Hindi was adopted as the Official Language of India. In fact, Mahatma Gandhi used Hindi to unite India and hence the language is also known as the language of Unity.”
The Campus Director Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro inaugurated the programme and delivered the presidential address.
On this occasion, the prize winners in various Hindi competitions were honoured. The students have also presented various cultural events.
The faculty of the Department Mr. Gopalakrishna Dongre, Mrs. Maria Priyadarshini and Mrs. Dimple Fernandes coordinated the programme.
Ms. Anuradha Bharadwaj and team presented the prayer song. Mr. Spandan S Rai welcomed the gathering. Ms. Sujna proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Fathima Faiza compered the programme.
