Inauguration of National Seminar on ‘Sustainable Development & Corporate Social Responsibility-Issues & Challenges’

DSC_4902The Department of Commerce, St Philomena College Puttur in association with Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Mangalore Branch organized UGC sponsored National Seminar on ‘Sustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility – Issues and Challenges’ on September 23, 2015 in college auditorium.

Dr G Gopa Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Kerala, Kasargod inaugurated the seminar and delivered the keynote address. He said, ‘India has achieved political democracy and not achieved economic and social democracy. Inclusive development is the new term which is indispensable for sustainable development.’

Mr. CA. Shivakumar K, Chairman, ICAI, Mangalore Branch was the chief guest. Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, College Campus Director was the guest of honour. CA. Jagannath Kamath, Ex-President, ICAI, Mangalore Branch graced the occasion. Very Rev. Fr Alfred J Pinto, the Correspondent presided over the function.

In technical sessions, Prof. D Anand, Professor, Bahadur Institute of Management Sciences, University of Mysore and Prof. Ramachandra Bhatta, Former Professor of Fisheries Economics, College of Fisheries, Mangalore were the resource persons.

Mr. Terrence and group sang the prayer song. Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal welcomed the gathering. Prof. Maxim Carl, Head, Dept of Commerce and the Convenor of Seminar proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. Melita Anusha Montheiro, Dept of Commerce compered the programme.
