National Seminar on Social Values in Bhishma Saahani’s Writings

DSC_4658The Department of Hindi, St Philomena College Puttur in association with Corporation Bank organized UGC sponsored National Seminar on ‘Social Values in Bhishma Saahani’s Writings’ on September 15, 2015 in college auditorium.

The inaugurator of the seminar Mr. M B Ganesh, DGM, Corporation Bank, Zonal Office in his inaugural address said, ‘Bhishma Saahani was one of the most prolific writers of Hindi literature. His command over common languages enabled him to attach his writing to the hearts and minds of common people.’

Dr Jayanthi Prasad Noutiyala, DGM, Corporation Bank, Head Office delivered the keynote address. He said, ‘Bhishma Saahani’s works are characterized by a sense of compassion, values of universal humanism and lucid narrative.’

Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, College Campus Director was the chief guest. Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal welcomed the gathering. Very Rev. Fr Alfred J Pinto, the Correspondent presided over the function.

In technical sessions, Dr Sunitha Manjanbail, Head, Department of Hindi, Gulbarga Universitey, Dr Pramod Kupravat, Head, Department of Hindi, Calicut University and Dr Sham Kishor Pande, Former DGM, Syndicate Bank were the resource persons.

In valedictory function, Dr P L Saroj, the Director, Directorate of Cashew Research was the chief guest. Dr Jayanthi Prasad Noutiyala, DGM, Corporation Bank, Head Office delivered the valedictory address. Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal presided over the function. Prof. Vishnu Bhat, Head, Dept of Hindi and the Convenor of Seminar proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. Maria Priyadarshini, Dept of Hindi and Ms. Elizabeth Sebastian compered the programme.
