Sanskrit Fest

On the occasion of Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the College, Department of Sanskrit, St Philomena College Puttur organized Science Fest on January 23, 2018 in college auditorium.

Alankarashastra Professor of Sanskrit College Udupi, Vidwan Amritesha Acharya delivered the inaugural address. He said, ‘Sanskrit is an ancient Indian language. It is a sacred language of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. It is believed that the Sanskrit language originated during the time of Rig-Veda.’

The Campus Director and Chairman of PG Studies Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro was the guest of honour. The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha expressed his best wishes. The Correspondent Rev. Fr Alfred J Pinto delivered the presidential address.

Ms. Kshama Bhat and Ms. Inchara presented the prayer song. The Sanskrit Lecturer of St Philomena PU College Vidwan Suresh Kumar welcomed the gathering. The Convener of Fest and HoD of Sanskrit Mr. Vignesha Sharma delivered introductory speech. Ms. Deekshitha proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Sowmya P compered the programme.

On this occasion, exhibition was arranged to present Sanskrit as a language of science. The students of neighbouring schools and college have participated as the delegates. In the afternoon session, cultural heritage of our ancient India was displayed by the students.
