St. Philomena College, Puttur is affiliated to Mangalore University and is managed by the Catholic Board of Education, Mangalore. Puttur, until the 1950s was an unheralded place in the coastal Karnataka region. The College was founded in 1958 with express objective of educationally empowering the people of Puttur. The founder Msgr Antony Patrao founded and tended the Institution with motherly care. His example was emulated by his successors. The exemplary achievements of the College have been crowned by the ‘A’ grade accreditation by the “NAAC”.

Astronomers use telescopes because they are much better than our eyes. The College has a telescope of model Sky-Watcher HEQ5 Pro which is used for long exposure deep sky astrophotography.
In the memory of the founder, our college has established a historical museum in the name of Fr Antony Patrao.
The Persons with Disabilities Act 1995 indicates that disabled persons should have access to education at all levels.
