Condensed Matter Physics Research Laboratory

Condensed-matter physics concerns atoms in close proximity to one another and interacting strongly, as in the liquid and solid states. In the College center has been established on the year 2018 under the leadership of Dr. E. Deepak D’silva. At present 03 people working on various project on Non-linear Optics and Optoelectronics. The division has funded by VGST (Vision Group on Science and Technology), Government of Karnataka.

Our aim is to explore nanoparticles, thin films related experiments with extremely high efficiency in condensed matters. We thus contribute to the development of the emerging field nanotechnology, which has mainly concentrate on nanoparticles, nanofilms and its characteristics to the application in the scientific field. Our particular interest is at present, synthesis of nanoparticle for optoelectronic devices.

The instruments were established in condensed matter physics lab as follows:

  • Spin coating unit procured from HOLMARC and Chemical bath deposition for the preparation of nanoparticles and thin films.
  • The Fume hood is known for local ventilation device that is designed to limit exposure to chemical reaction fumes, vapours or dust.
  • Abbey Refractometer and pH meter were used to determine the refractive index and pH of the chemical solutions.
  • Hot air Oven and magnetic stirrer (with and without heater) was the basic need to grow nanoparticles with the help of chemical method.
