‘Trafficking in human beings is a serious crime and a grave violation of human rights’ said Assistant Superintendent of Police of Puttur Sub Division Mr. Rishant. He was speaking after inaugurating an awareness programme on ‘Anti Human Trafficking’ organized jointly by Centre for Research and PG Studies of St Philomena College Puttur and Anti Human Trafficking Unit of DK District on November 24, 2015 at Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall of the college.
‘Every year, thousands of men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers, in their own countries and abroad’, he added.
Police Inspector of Puttur Town Police Station Mr. Mahesh Prasad gave a preliminary address. Ms. Nancy and Ms. Geetha Prabhu of Freedom Foundation, Bangalore participated as the resource persons. Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal graced the occasion. Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Campus Director and Chairman of Centre for Research and PG Studies presided over the function.
The students of PG studies in Economics presented the prayer song. Sub Inspector of Puttur Town Police Station Mr. Abdul Khader welcomed the gathering. The Coordinator of PG studies in Economics Prof. Dinakara Rao proposed the vote of thanks. Assistant Professor Ms. Sandhya H compered the programme.
