Suraksha Consumer Forum of St Philomena College Puttur has organized an awareness programme on ‘Emerging Trends in Consumer Movement’ on July 11, 2015 in Spandana Seminar Hall. Mr. Raghavendra P, Legal Adviser of D K District Federation of Consumer Organisations (R), Advocate and Notary, Mangalore was the resource person. Speaking on the topic he said, ‘With a main intention of making consumer protection rules in India at par with international standards, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs of the Government of India is planning to make amendments to the Consumer Protection Act 1986. The proposed rules will protect the consumer rights and simplify the judicial process to ensure speedy and inexpensive justice.’
Vice Principal of the college Prof. Vishnu Bhat presided over the function. Ms. Chinmayi and group sang the prayer song. The Director of Suraksha consumer Forum Prof. Dinakara Rao welcomed the gathering. Ms. Poojashree proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Nishel Asha D’Souza compered the programme.
