P.G. Dept Of Social Work – Educational Rural Camp – 2020

The Post Graduate Department of Social Work organized 5 days Educational Rural Camp for I MSW students at Govt. Lower Primary School, Mardhuradka, Yedamnagala Village, Kadaba T Q from 25th Jan 2020 to 29th Jan.2020.

Rural Camp is an opportunity for the Social Work students to have a better experience of community life & improve their professional skills by organizing need based programmes & awareness campaigns with the support and collaboration of local people. It also provides ample opportunity for students to learn the importance of adjustment & coordination in life.

The Inaugural Programme was held on 25th Jan, 2020, 5.30 p.m. at Govt. Lower Primary School, Mardhuradka. Mr.Malla, President of S.D.M.C, inaugurated the Camp by lighting the lamp & expressed his best wishes for the success of the camp. Faculty Members Ms. Deepika and Mr. Sachin Kumar, Mr. Niranjan, Student Coordinator was present on this occasion. Ms.Yashaswi & Team presented the Payer Song, Mrs Srimani, Coordinator, of MSW Dept did the introductory speech, Ms Mamatha compeered the programme.

The Valedictory Programme was held on 29th Jan. 2020 at 10.00 p.m. Mrs Poornima K, Head Mistress, Govt Lower Primary School, Mardhuradka presided over the function. Ms Deepika M, Coordinator of the rural camp, read the report and Mr Niranjan, Student Coordinator shared his experience. On this occasion distributed Prizes to the winners of different activity conducted during the camp. Ms. Sharmila & Team presented the prayer song, Mr. Amruth welcomed the gathering, Ms Saramma proposed vote of thanks, Ms Meghashree Compeered the programme.

On 19th Jan. 2020 PRE NEED BASE RURAL SURVEY prearranged to understand the needs of Targeted community and to prepare the blueprint of programme or activities. On that day students have visited two colonies at the camp site Mardhuradka. During the survey students interacted with community people and identified their problems and needs. Based on this socio- economic survey this camp schedule has been formulated. Survey began at 9.30 am and ended at 3.OOpm.

On 26th Jan. 2020 P G Department of Social Work in collaboration with Govt L.P.School, Mardoordka organized Republic Day Celebration. On this occasion Mr Balakrishna M, Rtd. Head Master, Govt Lower Primary School, Mardhuradka, unfurled the national flag and spoke about the importance of the day. To memorize the event students hand over hygiene kit to the Headmistress. On the same day MSW students created awareness on personal hygiene, food hygiene, environmental hygiene and distributed awareness pamphlets to the Colony people, Students have visited 40+ houses. In the evening at 6.00 pm MSW students performed street play on the theme ‘Swachathe’ at Mardhradka Colony.

On 27th Jan.2020 MSW students beautified the School site through the Shramadana- Cleaned the  school Surrounding, Planted trees, Painted flag stone, Constructed Bore well recharge Pit, Water harvesting  pit, Awareness Boards hanged on school compound. On the same day evening students performed Street play at Govt Lower Primary School Mardhuradka on the theme – ‘Bad habits and Swachathe’. This reached the onlookers effectively.  Nearly 100 viewers witnessed the show.

On 28th Jan.2020 students of MSW conducted “Capacity Building Activities” for students of Government Lower Primary School Marduradka. Whole day different capacity building activities were conducted by the students for school children. The activities like art and craft, painting, storytelling, life skills, moral values, personal hygiene etc…  On the same day sport day conducted for the school children. Cultural programme followed by sports day.

On 29th Jan. after the valedictory programme Evaluation session of the whole camp was arranged at the school. Every morning the day of the campers began at 6.30 a.m., followed by prayer, exercise & shramadan & ended around 11.00 p.m. with an evaluation hour.

The students had good opportunity to observe, learn & showcase their abilities as a professional social worker with sensitivity towards community needs.
