The Post Graduate department of Mathematics, St Philomena College, Puttur has organized a Special Lecture Program on ‘Advanced Technologies and New Age Skills for Personality Development’ and ‘Some Research Areas in Ring Theory’ on 17th February 2020 as a part of MOU with St. Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor.
The Inaugural function commenced at 09:30 am. The chief guest Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, the Chairperson of PG studies, St Philomena College Puttur, in his address said that the internal quality of an institution plays an important role in attracting the students rather than its location.
Prof. Ganesh Bhat K, the coordinator of PG Department of Mathematics made introductory remarks.
Dr. Ramananda H S, Professor and HOD, Department of Mathematics, St. Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor explained the role of this MOU in sharing of knowledge between the two institutions.
Prof. Leo Noronha, The Principal of St. Philomena College in his presidential address mentioned the importance of sincerity and dedication in student life.
As a symbol of this MOU, files were exchanged between the representatives of both the colleges.
Ananyalakshmi M and team prayed for the success of the program. Mrs. Vaishnavi C, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics welcomed the gathering, Karthik K, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics proposed the vote of thanks and Shruthi U compeered the master of ceremony.
Dr. Jagadeesha B, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, St. Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor and Mr. Harsha A J, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, St. Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor were present in the function.
All the faculty members of the department and the students of M.Sc. Mathematics were present in the program.
First Session of the Special Lecture Program was started at 10:45am at Computer Lab-I of the P.G. Centre. Dr. Ramanada H S explained about adopting some new teaching methods using the advanced technology. Mr. Harsha A J assisted him in the program.
Second session of the program was started at 1:30pm at the class room I1. Dr. Jagadeesha B explained about some research areas in Algebra including Ring Theory, Fuzzy sets, Algebraic Graph Theory.etc.
All the students of M.Sc. Mathematics actively participated in both the sessions.
