Two day workshop for PG faculty on SPSS

DSC_7766Research Expert Committee of St Philomena College Puttur organized a workshop on ‘Data Analysis Techniques for Research’ on January 20 and 21, 2017 in PG auditorium. The main focus of this workshop was to train the staff members to use Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) Software.

Dr Vasudeva Guddattu, Assistant professor, Manipal University inaugurated the workshop.

Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Chairman, Centre for PG Studies and Research was the Chief Guest. He said, ‘Research helps to acquire new knowledge, and even a teacher becomes a student while doing research.’

Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal presided over the programme. He said, ‘Research is not an invention. Research consists of collecting data from various sources and analyzing it with a proper methodology.’

The resource person Dr Vasudeva Guddattu presented on various topics such as Data manipulation using SPSS, descriptive statistics using SPSS, Parametric tests, Non parametric tests, Chi-square tests, McNemar tests, correlation, simple linear regression and logistic regression.

Dr Deepak D’Silva, convenor of Research Expert Committee welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Sandhya H, Assistant Professor of Economics proposed the vote of thanks.  Ms. Namratha Shenoy, Assistant Professor of Mathematics compered the programme.
